Boomers - keep on truck’n

No matter what your age/generation you’ll get a kick out of this article on EmployeeEvolution titled ‘Boomers are reinventing retirement, I’m going to bartending school’ by Ryan Paugh.

A great article that once again brings up the fact that 76 million Boomers are racing towards retirement - with their brakes on.  What’s the next generation to do?

Yes, we’re all aging and wondering and aging and wondering - and all the time we’re in the middle of that process time is ticking away.

Yes, the Boomers are reinventing retirement, and they should be.    In fact, the word retirement needs to be shelved along the way too.  I don’t really even like the word reinventing or rewiring either - they both sound like something was wrong and needs to be fixed.  But both are still better than ‘retiring’.  Retiring just doesn’t fit any more.

So, what do we call what the Boomers are doing?

Atleast for myself retirement won’t have any real meaning. I plan on making changes in my life long before I hit retirement age. That doesn’t mean I wont work, but rather position myself to be able to do what ever I want when ever I want. I love to learn so I expect it will involve that somehow.
