Since taking over this blog early this fall, many of my posts have focused on the amazing amount of jobs that have been lost due to the recession in this country. Well, I’ve stumbled across a story that talks about the opposite: new jobs.

Sure, the new jobs aren’t in this country, and they are only 100, but still, you take your good news when you can.

You can read the story here,  but, to sum up, Ramazan Baydan, owner of the Istanbul-based Baydan Shoe Company, is experiencing a boom in demand for his company’s Model 271 shoe. This is the shoe that Iraqi journalist Muntazar al-Zaidi threw at Pres. Bush during a press conference earlier this month in Baghdad.

Baydan says that he has hired an extra 100 staffers to meet increased orders for the shoe. So, yes, Pres. Bush has managed to create some new jobs. It’s just too bad they’re not here in the United States.
