It’s easy with all the sour economic news flooding the airwaves and filling newspaper space to think that no one’s job is safe these days.
But that simply isn’t true. Yes, a growing number of U.S. residents rightly fear for their jobs as the recession gains in strength. But there are some industries and fields that seem to be recession proof.
Writer Sarah Needleman with the Wall Street Journal recently wrote a story taking a close look at those rare industries that aren’t suffering job losses during the recession.
Hospitals and insurance companies, for example, are still looking for new hires. Employers also rarely cut workers from their information technology and accounting departments, Needleman writes in her story. Health care and education are two additional fields that remain strong even in down economies, according to the story.
If you’re looking for some good career news as the holiday season chugs on, check out Needleman’s feature. It’s good to now that not every industry is shrinking.
